About Hungerthon

WhyHunger’s Hungerthon in an annual campaign that educates people across the U.S. and raises critical funds to end hunger in America. Started as a radio-driven Thanksgiving tradition in 1975, Hungerthon hits airwaves across the nation each fall through our partnerships with SiriusXM, Audacy NY and iHeartMedia NY and has raised tens of millions of dollars to tackle the root of hunger in America and ensure everyone’s basic human right to nutritious food.

This year, WhyHunger’s 38th Hungerthon campaign will kick off on November 1 with a concert event in Brooklyn, NY and will feature John Lennon Imagine There’s No Hunger and Bruce Springsteen merchandise as a gift with your donation. WhyHunger’s live Hungerthon radio broadcast at Audacy New York will be Tuesday, November 21st, when all donations will be matched dollar for dollar. The massive online celebrity auction will run from Nov 14 – Dec 7.

Hunger is a big, complex global problem. But behind the numbers there are real people who are struggling to pay their bills, fill their tank and get nourishing food on their tables. People who are suffering need more than a handout. Ending hunger is about people. It's about their right to be nourished and their ability to grow, pick, consume and celebrate food they can afford that is healthy for their bodies.
