Why Hungerthon Matters

WhyHunger’s Hungerthon is annual campaign to end hunger in the U.S. at its roots and defend the right to nutritious food for all.

The need in America is growing. Each year, nearly 50 million people don't get enough to eat. Grocery costs are up 33% since 2019, the largest increase in 50 years. Devastating federal cuts to SNAP have stripped food assistance from over 5 million people and 1.5 million children in the last year alone.

But hunger isn't inevitable. Together, we can meet this moment. Your Hungerthon donation has a powerful dual impact: (1) delivering immediate nourishment to those in need and (2) powering long-term community solutions to hunger’s root causes.

Last year, your Hungerthon support connected 2.1 million people in need to food and invested $1.3 million in local solutions to end hunger.
